Chairs

Look for a chair with a slim or open-arm design and tapered legs, which keep the visual footprint light and lets the floor show beneath and around the piece. Avoid wide-arm or high-back designs in smaller rooms as these add visual bulk without adding usable space. A modern chair with a hairpin or splayed-leg base reads as lighter than one with a solid plinth base. Seat height should sit close to any sofa it accompanies so the arrangement reads as a considered grouping.

An accent chair is primarily defined by its visual contribution to a room, typically smaller in scale and placed to complement a sofa or anchor a corner. A lounge chair prioritises comfort and a relaxed posture, often with a deeper seat and a more reclined back angle. Both appear across The Feelter’s range, and the distinction often comes down to seat depth and back angle rather than any strict category boundary.

The range includes velvet, fabric, bouclé, PU leather, and full-grain leather across the upholstered options, alongside moulded plastic and fibreglass shell seats for modernist chair silhouettes. Timber frame finishes include natural oak, walnut, and beech. Metal frame options come in powder-coated black, white, and brushed steel. Specific materials and finishes for each model are listed on the product page.

Share at least one material or tonal reference between the chair and the sofa without requiring an exact match. A fabric sofa pairs naturally with a leather or bouclé accent chair that draws from the same colour palette. Seat height should sit within a few centimetres of the sofa to keep the arrangement consistent at seated eye level. Browsing The Feelter’s lounge chairs collection alongside the sofas range gives you the widest view of which pieces are designed to work together.

Yes. The Feelter’s Melbourne showroom has a selection of chairs on display, including accent chairs, modern chairs and swivel chairs. Assessing scale, upholstery texture, and comfort in person is particularly useful for chairs where seat depth and back support vary significantly between models. Check the showroom page for current opening hours and available pieces.
